Why i am a christian
And why that matters (for you)
Introduction...
If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you came across my story in print and were curious about or perhaps inspired by something you read. Whatever your reason for being here, thanks for coming. I think you’ll be glad you did.
Beginning with this post, I want to take you on a journey with me exploring why I am a Christian. You may be wondering why in the world you should care anything about why I am a Christian. That’s a fair question.
In full disclosure, I cannot adequately answer it upfront. That’s because the answer is embedded in the journey itself. You will not get the answer by reading a syllogism but by entering a story.
It is a bit like being asked, “what is it like to fall in love with someone?”
I know very well what that is like and could attempt a brief paragraph defining it. Or I could hand you Jane Eyre, Anna Karenina or Romeo and Juliet. Which do you think would do a better job of answering your question?
If you are willing to spend a little bit of your time on the journey with me, I guarantee you will not regret it. I suspect we have much in common and I have good grounds for believing this. Namely, that we are both human and therefore share many of the fundamental elements of the human experience. Love and hate. Suffering and pleasure. Wins and Losses. Victories and disappointments. Abandonment. Rejection. Beauty. Music. Wonder. Longing. Loneliness. Knowledge and Ignorance. Pride and humility. Innocence and guilt. Questions that come easy and answers that don’t.
If none of that sounds familiar then I want to meet you, for you must either be the most interesting person in the world or the least and I want to know which.
For the rest of you, I invite you to come along for the ride by signing up below. Once you sign up, you will receive one email a week with the next post in the series until it is complete.
You can also read along at your own pace directly on my site, but it is a work in progress and I would still recommend signing up above so that if you lose your place you can pick back up again later with the help of my email. Or if you catch up to my writing you can be notified when the next post drops.
In my next post, our journey officially begins. Prepare yourself for unchartered territory... it's going to be one epic adventure.
